This course mainly aims to provide students with geographical and historical dimensions of states’ emergence and development, world’s economic and political diversity, relations between the states in the age of globalization. The course is intended to appeal to students who aim to familiarize themselves with the key theoretical issues and approaches in world political and economic geography as well as to critically evaluate through empirical material and case studies. It encourages students to think critically about the current geopolitical deadlocks, develop policy options for overcoming development issues, learn to perform own research in political geography. Ultimately, it can help students choose which area of international relations they want to focus on, narrowing down their specialization.
