Aims of curse:

The course covers basic operational research methods and models for economic decision making support.

Learning outcomes and competences:

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to apply basic operational research methods and models for solving of real decision making problems. The will be familiar with software products for mathematical modelling and optimisation.

Course contents:

- introduction, overview of operations research, basic fields and methods, 

- basics of linear programming, economical and mathematical models

- formulation of typical linear programming problems, 

- solving linear programming problems and interpretation of results, 

- distribution linear programming problems,

- software support for linear programming problems, 

- introduction to graph theory and optimisation problems on graphs, 

- project management - CPM and PERT methods, 

- deterministic and stochastic inventory models, 

- queueing models - analytic and simulation approach, 

- multicriteria decision making, WSA, TOPSIS
