The aim of this one semester course is to familiarize students with core topics and debates in the Conflict Resolution field. We will begin by exploring the literature addressing the complex issue of causes of contemporary armed conflicts at the systemic and state levels. We will then move on to analyze the evolution of the conflict resolution field and practice. In the second half of the course, we will cover both theory and practice of mediation, peacekeeping and peacebuilding, primarily focusing on United Nations.
