The course will focus on understanding of political and geographic contexts of states that belong to Anglophone world. Apart from that, we will be focusing on issues related to economic development and its geographic effects. Course themes include, but not limited to, state, borders, territory, development, nationalism, conflict, geopolitics. Events and examples, to illustrate concepts and approaches from the course texts and lectures, will be drawn mostly from the Anglophone world. This course is mainly aiming to provide a comprehensive introduction to key concepts and theoretical approaches of political and economic geography; enable students to apply the knowledge of key political and economic issues in the context of globalisation; encourage students to think about policy options for overcoming development issues; learn to work with academic and analytical texts; be able to develop own research in political geography.
